Castle Quay Shopping Centre has donated £500 to Banbury parkrun to supports its efforts to raise £1,000 to purchase a defibrillator to provide lifesaving support in the event of an emergency. Thanks to this donation and the local community support, Banbury parkrun has now purchased the defibrillator and Castle Quay is proud to show its support.
Banbury parkrun is a free weekly 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 9:00am in Spiceball park. It offers an opportunity for anyone in the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy this beautiful park and get physically active into the bargain.
Thanks to the huge financial support from Castle Quay and the local community, Banbury parkrun still has funds left over, having purchased the defibrillator, and as such the community of runners is discussing the possibility of helping other local park runs with their funding for defibrillators.
Michael Dobson, Event Director at Banbury parkrun commented:
“With such a large number of people taking part at Banbury parkrun each week, with a wide range of fitness levels, we are absolutely thrilled to be able to get enough funding, with the help of a generous donation from Castle Quay shopping centre, to be able to purchase a defibrillator. Hopefully it will never have to be used, but if it does and it saves a life, then it's invaluable”.
