Castle Quay is pleased to announce a game changing new anchor for the shopping centre in Banbury – Lock29. A unique, creative leisure space filling 30,000 sq ft of the former BHS store, this vibrant food and beverage anchor will reinvigorate this empty space and create a new destination within the town.
Opening in March 2020, Lock29 offers something currently not found in the region. As the phenomenon of street food continues to sweep the food industry, the diverse offer within Lock29 will provide something for the whole of Banbury and beyond. Taking its name from the Banbury Lock, it will be a one-of-a-kind leisure destination that seeks to bring the town’s history into the new venue and offer an experience like no other.

Further to recent updates, we would like to advise Castle Quay visitors that the Castle Quay North car park will undergo demolition work, w/c 3 June. This should take no longer than six weeks and we don’t expect this to impact on traffic around Castle Quay and the surrounding area. Measures are in place to eliminate any dust resulting from demolition work but please do get in touch should you have any queries or concerns on this.
Further to our most recent update, we can confirm that the footbridge connecting Castle Quay Shopping Centre to Spiceball Park Road North will close from Monday 20th May. This is due to ongoing construction work on the exciting new leisure and retail development at Castle Quay – Castle Quay Waterfront – which is due for completion in 2021.
