For the latest autumn trends…

By | News

After another pretty lovely summer, the temperatures have taken a decidedly chilly turn and it’s time to update your wardrobe for winter.

From cool checks to oversize coats, we’ve got you covered with the latest AW19 trends at stores including New Look, Debenhams, H&M, Dorothy Perkins, M&S and Roman at Castle Quay.

Dorothy Perkins

Check mate

If there’s one trend to be seen in this season, it’s checks. Whether you go for stylish and adaptable checked blazer to pair with anything from jeans and a casual tee, to silk skirts, utility layers and animal print midis or opt to be more daring with checks on check, it’s this season’s most versatile trend.

Dark florals

Ornate and nostalgic, this season’s floral trends conjure up all sorts of nostalgic memories with oversized ‘wallpaper’ prints and darker ditzy florals dominating the rails.

Check out Banbury’s First Zero Waste Shop

By | News

Are you looking to shop a little more eco-consciously?

We’re excited to announce the arrival of Banbury’s first zero waste shop, opening at Castle Quay this Saturday 7 September. ‘Nothing But Footprints’ will be selling package-free foods and household cleaning products, alongside sustainably sourced and plastic-free products for the eco conscious home.

The people behind this great brand are local Banbury residents, Daniel Ludlow and Violeta Martin Garcia. Living a conscious life is their life passion and they wanted to bring this way of thinking (and living) to the people of Banbury, after spotting that there were no zero waste shops in the area.

You’ll find the store opposite Bodycare and it will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday every week between 9:00am – 5:30pm.

Nothing But Footprints works with small start-up companies to source a range of ethical products.  One example is SESI (www.sesi.org.uk), a social enterprise based in Oxford who make and distribute household cleaning products, such as washing up liquid and laundry liquid in a fully circular system where all containers are sent back, cleaned and reused. They started making their products in their shed and selling at local markets and have grown from there. They now distribute their refills all over the UK and have an army of loyal supporters and customers. They are currently designing and building a pedal-powered cleaning system to clean their empties before refilling, and all refilling is done using gravity.

The team also work with Primal Suds (www.primalsuds.com) who make soap in a traditional way. They are a couple from Southampton whose soaps, shampoo bars and solid deodorants have been hugely popular across the UK and are handmade, vegan, and smell incredible.

For those looking to make small but worthwhile changes in and around the home that have minimal impact on the environment, Nothing But Footprints is the perfect place to start.

Kumon Study Centre Opens At Castle Quay

By | News

We are excited to announce that the Kumon Banbury Study Centre is coming to Castle Quay from Friday 30th August. The study centre will be located at Banbury Museum within Castle Quay until 8th September, and then next to Marks and Spencer and Boots from Monday 9th September.

Kumon Study Centre helps children of any age and any ability, discover their full potential as they develop their understanding and fluency of each subject.

With 60 years of experience, the Kumon Maths and English programmes enable students to become confident, independent learners. Kumon Study helps students develop a positive attitude to study that they may not achieve in the traditional school environment. This can increase their enjoyment across a wide range of subjects at school, whilst also preparing them for personal and professional success later in life.

To celebrate their opening, between 1 September and 30 September Kumon will be offering a one-week free trial to all new students at their Banbury study centre.

On arrival participating children will be assessed, so that their Kumon Instructor can tailor their level of study precisely to their ability. Maths and English programmes will be personalised to students to allow them to start at their own level, when they’re ready.

To find out how the Kumon Study Centre can help your child excel, give them a call on 0800 043 0063 or email us on banbury@kumoncentre.co.uk.
