Castle Quay’s Film Extravaganza Weekend a Huge Success!
Castle Quay’s Film Extravaganza weekend, to celebrate the official launch of the Waterfront, was a roaring success. The event was busy from start to finish on Saturday 2 July, with visitors travelling across Oxfordshire to join the free festivities.
Visitors were wowed by a huge Triceratops stomping through the malls and two of the cutest baby dinosaurs of all time making a special appearance. Film inspired characters from Batman, Ghostbusters, Harry Potter, Minions and Jurassic Park also roamed around Castle Quay and the Waterfront to entertain and thrill visitors with their likeness to the real film characters.
Replicas of some of the most iconic movie vehicles in history including the infamous bat mobile, the Ecto-1 Ghostbusters car and the coolest ever jeep wrangler from Jurassic Park were situated at the Waterfront for visitors to admire and get a selfie alongside.
Visitors were transported to a fantastical land as little ones flew into another world on Harry Potter’s broom and ran away from the dangerous Dino’s at the centre’s specially installed green screen in the main mall. All photographs and video footage were free to download and enjoy at home.
Live movie themed music played inside Lock29 throughout the weekend and face painters turned visitors into their favourite movie character – interestingly the most popular looks requested on the day were Hulk and Batman!
The Hollywood set was also a hit as people took advantage of the movie themed props including a paparazzi wall, director’s chair, clapper board, film camera and spotlight. The centre even arranged for a Hollywood sign and an Oscar to be installed in the centre’s mall for the ultimate photo opportunity.
PizzaExpress was extremely popular on the day too as visitors were able to get a tasty free treat from their branded Piaggio Truck, situated outside their new restaurant on the canal-side.
