ROBOT: An Exhibition of Robots, Cyborgs and Androids
This summer embark on a journey into the world of robots at Banbury Museum & Gallery
‘ROBOT’ celebrates the influence of science fiction in shaping our perception of robots and artificial intelligence. Featuring iconic characters, vintage toys, film production props and original memorabilia, this event offers a blend of nostalgia, entertainment, and interactive experiences that all the family can enjoy. Immerse yourself in the fantastical world of robots and explore the remarkable impact these creations have had on our collective imagination.
This exciting exhibition showcases robots, cyborgs and androids in all their forms, from friendly and helpful to sinister and scary. Get up close and personal with a cast of full-size heroic robots, vintage tin toys, and sculptures in all shapes and sizes from comics, books, and the silver screen of the past 40 years.
Encounter some legendary robots and cyborgs that have become pop culture icons. Science-fiction fans will recognise some of their favourite metal movie stars, from the formidable presence of Robo Cop and Terminator to modern hero Iron Man.
Closer to home, see local legend Hypno-disc. This working combat robot was built and run by Banbury engineers Dave, Derek and Ken Rose for the popular BBC TV series Robot Wars (1998-2004). Featuring in successive series, this popular robot competitor and runner up of series 3, will be on display for the first time in over 15 years!
With interactive experiences, explore how coding works with family friendly robotic toys and take your own robot for a spin around their robot racing pit!
So don’t miss this unforgettable experience that celebrates the timeless allure of robots!
